Cryano and Roxane
In the play, Cyrano de Bergerac, there is a huge love triangle. This is mainly between the characters of Cyrano, Christian, and Roxane. The problem is who should be the man Roxane should actually fall in love with? She obviously falls in love with Christian, but that was very scapin of him because he was lying the whole time about his poems, writings, and his poetic words. The answer to such a question would be that Cyrano deserves the heart of the girl.
It is very understandable that Cyrano has a big nose. Nowadays looks at everything when it comes to the opposite sex. But, back in the day it seems it was different. Yes, he has a big nose, but he also had an enormous heart, a gigantic brain, and obviously C’e magnifique, mais ce n’est pas la guerre’ feeling of love for the way he felt about Roxane. There aren’t too many guys who would help out a girl they were absolutely in love with and try and fix them up with another man. It doesn’t work that way. Cyrano let it work that way, and it got him to a place were deep down he probably wanted to die.
Later on in the play, Roxane tells Christian of how much she loves him, and wants to be with him forever even if he turns ugly. She stated for him to turn ugly because she loves him for who he is, “Yes I will love you forever, even if overnight you lost your beauty,” (pg.155) beckoned Roxane. At that moment, that was the deserving line Cyrano needed to hear. Yet he heard it, and yet Christian let Cyrano love her as well, Cyrano wanted Roxane to be happy and love Christian. Although Christian tried to help Cyrano in return, the beauty of it was Cyrano really did turenne Roxane.
In the end, Cyrano should have been the one from the start to marry Roxane. But, there is a huge importance in this play about not lying about who you are and showing your true self to the people around you, so they like and fall in love for who your are.

Cyrano vs. Christian with Love
Between two of the main character from the book, Cyrano de Bergerac, there is a man who is very smart, poise, funny, brave, who goes by the name of Cyrano. On the other hand there is a man who is fit, and very beautiful, and that’s it, which goes by the name of Christian. Between the two of them, they would have been enemies if it wasn’t for there love, Roxane.
Roxane gets treated almost like a princess; she has very high class and is very smart. She usually is with arrogant men, but want something different, which is personality and smartness. Since childhood, Cyrano has been in love with her, and he still is. They are known as cousins, which is a term for friends that have known each other for a while. The one time Cyrano had a chance to meet and talk with Roxanne, it was going perfect. She explained how she was in love with a man but wasn’t sure if he had loved her back. She said all the things that had to do with him, until she mentioned that he was beautiful, and then Cyrano knew she wasn’t talking about him. She finally stated that she was in love with Christian.
Who would have guessed that she would have loved Christian, because Christian himself thinks he has more or an immature mindset. Roxane tells Cyrano to instead of making enemies, but make a friend, and protect Christian and have Christian recite his love fore her in poem. Although Christian doesn’t know how to do that for her, Cyrano is a good cousin and obeys her wish and helps Christian with his love life with Roxane, even though Cyrano is falling head over heels with her as well.
Why didn’t Cyrano just tell Roxane he couldn’t do that because he was in love with her? That is such a huge problem to keep and then be friends with the man that stole your lover. It all just proves that Cyrano really is a wonderful, great guy because he would risk anything for her and anything to make her smile.
In conclusion, Cyrano is a heart filled man and hopefully in the end of the play he will get his wish and soon be the husband of Roxane one day. Although Christian isn’t a bad guy, if he knew how much he loved Roxane, he would tell her the truth in whom I writing the letters and maybe she would love him for being him.
Cyrano de Bergerac- Who is he?
What a man with high intellectual. What a man with pride. What a man with bravery and courage. But does that man have a down fall? Maybe something he would like to cover up, but can’t, and everybody notices it. It’s the nose, isn’t it? That man would be Cyrano. Cyrano is the star in the play Cyrano de Bergerac, which takes place in the year 1640. Throughout most of Act 1, it is hard decision to think about the mystery man Cyrano will turn out to be. From the first four scenes of Act 1, that’s when Cyrano starts to reveal himself and have enemies, yet cousins.
As the audience sets around the fake stage waiting for the play to begin, which Cyrano is involved in, they hear poetry and what’s beyond that. Cyrano’ friend describes him as “most delightful man under the sun.” A new character is opened up to be Christian, Who is going to be part of the guards someday. He asks whom this Cyrano is and is expecting someone gracious and indulging. But Christian starts to look at beautiful women, names roxane, who is in the box watching and waiting for the play. As Cyrano comes out for his performance, Christian builds up some jealousy, even though he is gorgeous himself. A very important and turning part of Act 1, was when Cyrano truly revealed who he was when Montfeury and him where going through dodges from sword fights and whatnot and Cyrano is reciting poems instead of chanted the whole way through it.
Although Cyrano ends up killing Montfeury in there play, he basically blots out that Montfeury is a horrible actor other people could play his part much better. Cyrano isn’t afraid to tell his real emotions and especially since he has other inside reason why Montfeury isn’t worth it. He enjoys having a lot of enemies because that’s what keeps him together and able to show his perfect abilities.
Throughout the story I have realized that it is a very hard story for my understanding, and this information has been what I pulled out from it. But, once I received the new book of Cyrano de Bergerac, from the Penguin Classics, it shows words that younger people are able to understand. From the original copy, it seems that Cyrano is the best guy and he has done a lot, but from the newest copy, Cyrano seems kind of too much into himself, and that there might be other important characters.
In conclusion, both copies of the books are interesting because it shows too different sides of feelings that are anyone would believe are true. It would be better if everyone read both copies to pick why it is true, but if not; the best copy is the newest one because it doesn’t relates to just one character.
